Beeston fundraise with night of music and dancing

Our Beeston Club, inspired by a fundraising night hosted by our volunteers in Fife last year, hosted a fundraising night of live music at the Beeston British Legion earlier this month.

Planning for a memorable night

Our Beeston Club volunteers wanted to facilitate a night of live music for the Sporting Memories group member and their respective carers, family members and the wider community to come along, enjoy themselves and raise money.

With support from their friends at the Dementia Studio in Beeston, local music artists were signed up to entertain attendees with folk, jazz, cabaret and pop music with the evening taking place at the Beeston British Legion, which hosts the weekly Sporting Memories sessions of the Club.

Music, prizes and fun!

Over 60 people came along and enjoyed the music with some even getting up to dance! A raffle with prizes of either wine or chocolate was very popular and attendees tucked into some tasty samosas.

The volunteers raised over £760 in total from a fun night, which was a great achievement.

Kelly Hart, Director of Impact and Fundraising, attended the evening and reflected: “It was a great night and lovely to see so many family members of our Club members coming along to support. The music was brilliant and the event was organised so well by the team of volunteers. Thank you to all of the volunteers for their hard work before and during the event”.

Dementia Studio

Beeston Sporting Memories Club is facilitated by Dementia Studio and is for people living with dementia and their carers. Each week the Club talk about sport with the aid of the Sporting Pink and the quiz, quotes and spot the ball (a sweet prize is the reward for the winner!) as well as physical activities of boccia and giant Jenga being favourites.

The Club also provides vital time for carers to come together with peer support. The carers chat about their week and share caring stories.
