Covid-19 Update – March 2022

With the latest increase in Covid-19 cases across the United Kingdom, we are sharing information on the latest rules for each nation we operate in across the UK along with our updated recommendations for upcoming sessions to ensure the safety of club facilitators, session supporters and members.

If you require any further information or advice, please contact Maurice Donohue via maurice@sportingmemoriesnetwork.com.

COVID Rules – Nations

England: COVID Rules

The UK Government set out its "Living with Covid" plan.

Should you test positive for Covid you are no longer legally required to self-isolate, but you are advised to stay at home and avoid contact with others for at least five full days.

Masks are no longer legally required in most public spaces - although they are still required in healthcare settings, such as GP surgeries, hospitals and care homes.

From 1 April 2022: lateral flow tests (LFTs) will no longer be free, except for the over-75s.

Scotland: COVID Rules

Scotland has lifted most legal restrictions, but face coverings will still be required on public transport and in some indoor settings including shops until 18 April 2022.

The legal requirement will be converted to guidance on 18 April.

Free Covid tests will remain available in Scotland until the end of April 2022

From 1 May 2022: people with symptoms will no longer need to test, instead they will be advised to stay at home until they feel better.

Wales: COVID Rules

Masks are no longer required in shops or on public transport - although they are recommended - but they remain compulsory in health and social care settings.

The legal requirement for people to self-isolate if they have Covid has also ended - although doing so is strongly advised.

Wales will maintain some testing measures until the end of June: free lateral flow tests (LFTs) for people with symptoms and contact tracing will continue.

What does this mean for our Sporting Memories Clubs and session delivery across the UK?

Given the Vulnerability of many of our members who attend our Clubs, it is important that we all take care to ensure that we minimise risk surrounding COVID infection rates and protect each other.

Recommendations before visiting a club session:

  • If you have any symptoms that are linked to Covid-19, such as the feeling of having a bad cold, headache, sore throat and runny nose, or you are generally feeling unwell, it is recommended that you stay away from club sessions to avoid transmission.
  • Make use of hand sanitisation resources as a good practice.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation.
  • Mask Wearing – Would we advise club facilitators in advance of face-to-face meetings, to ask members if they prefer attendees to wear face coverings or not during sessions.
