Calling all Orcadians – new Sporting Memories Clubs are looking for you!

Now that the Island Games in Orkney have come to a conclusion, why not relive the past week and other cherished sporting moments through our Clubs launching on the island!

We’ve got two sessions, based in Kirkwall and Stromness launching in the coming months and we’re looking for the good people of Orkney to help make the Club’s a huge success by being part of our community sessions.

Our Kirkwall Club will takes place in the St. Magnus Suite of The Pickaquoy Centre, while our Stromness Club is launching at The Stromness Library with further details to be announced shortly.

Could you volunteer?

We’re looking for volunteers to support the running of the Clubs in Kirkwall and Stromness.

Volunteers can play a variety of roles at our Clubs, from leading the sessions as Club facilitators, to creating quizzes or activities, to simply making sure everyone has a seat and a hot drink – there are many ways you can play your part.

We provide online training for all volunteers to ensure you know what to expect at a Sporting Memories session and can help older people to have the best possible experience during our sessions.

We’re also looking for members

Our Clubs in Orkney are FREE to attend and welcome older people aged 50+ who are looking for somewhere to reminisce and chat about sport but also looking for a regular session in their local community to be a part of.

We welcome older people from all backgrounds, so if you or a loved one are interested in giving Sporting Memories a try, please join us!
