How our Care Home Package works

Our Care Home Package provides a range of products and guidance which allows Sporting Memories sessions to thrive and enable those that attend to gain benefits which will help them to improve their lifestyles within their setting or local community. Below are the products and guidance provided as part of the package:

The #KITbox

The #KITbox is an essential resource designed for the really keen sports fan that contains reminiscence materials like our Sporting Pink™, which includes stories and favourites like the ‘Spot the Ball’, as well as carefully chosen equipment and exercises to support enjoyable light physical activities to improve physical wellbeing.

The contents and activities can be enjoyed on a one-to-one basis with staff, volunteers, family members or in group activities. We also provide a weekly digital Sporting Pink™ which can be used to support ongoing reminiscence sessions.

Group Physical Exercises

The equipment contained in the #Kitbox is also provided separately in our #Kitbag to support a weekly chair-based physical activity exercise session with elements of our sporting memories theme. This engages anyone interested in getting moving again, and it is accompanied by a guidebook, exercise DVD and personal logbooks.

Resource Centre

Our portable but robust Resource Centre is the ideal way to display our large array of available Replay Reminiscence Cards which cover a huge range of sporting interests. It also holds our monthly Sporting Pink newspaper so that any one in the care home or closed setting can access materials to look through or prompt conversations at any time.

Monthly sporting-themed activity sessions

These session guides include reminiscence, games, food, singing and crafts – all designed around a sporting theme such as an event taking place at that time, for example, the Grand National, Wimbledon or a Cup Final. They are created specifically to have ‘something for everyone’ but are supported by the training that covers specific aspects around group work and reminiscence.

Connecting to our network

For those with a particularly keen interest in sport, we offer the possibility of linking individuals to our wider community via online clubs and phone circles where they can meet other sports fans from across the UK and perhaps join clubs from a region where they grew up or which are run by a sports club they follow.

We also offer the opportunity for club facilitators and volunteers to also meet up online to share experiences of their clubs and how through shared learning clubs can offer more to their club members.
