Welsh clubs enjoy experiences at Ospreys and Cardiff City

Members from our Clubs from across South Wales were given the opportunity to experience some live sport on Saturday 4 March as they visited the homes of Cardiff City Football Club and Ospreys Rugby for a memorable day.

Ospreys narrowly lose out

In Swansea, over 20 members made the trip to Swansea.com stadium to attend the United Rugby Championship clash between Ospreys and Italian side Benetton.

Club members from Ynystawe, Dunvant and Swansea joined together for the game and were given the opportunity to soak up the atmosphere in the Legends Lounge before making their way onto the pitch for a quick tour of the ground.

Our members also got to watch a competitive game as the hosts were narrowly defeated by their Italian visitors 20-21.

Cardiff City triumph with Sporting Memories clubs in tow

In the Welsh capital, 16 members from our Penarth, Rumney Hub, Cardiff City Foundation and Pontypridd clubs combined to attend the Championship football match between the aforementioned Bluebirds and Bristol City.

Welcomed in by Bartley Bluebird, the club’s mascot, our members enjoyed a good day for the hosts in their relegation battle, as they were 2-0 victors against their local rivals.

Despite the mixed results on the pitch, it was a great success for both groups of Sporting Memories club members as they made new memories to share with their groups upon their return.

A positive day for all

Rob Baker, Project Coordinator for Wales, reflected on an enjoyable day for our members: “We’re really thrilled to have such positive relationships with a variety of professional sports clubs and their foundations in Wales, and this does allow our members the opportunity to experience live sport as well.

“It’s great also that the clubs can get together outside of normal club sessions to enjoy something together and I feel this is a real benefit to them all as individuals – so it’s a big thank you to Cardiff City FC Foundation and Ospreys In The Community for their generous support.”
