Our Volunteers have their say!

Ahead of Volunteers Week, we surveyed our volunteers to ask for their thoughts on giving their time to support our clubs – with over 90% of volunteers saying they would recommend volunteering for Sporting Memories to a friend, family member or colleague.

The survey asked a series of questions of our volunteers including the amount of hours they dedicate each week to Sporting Memories and how they rated their experience volunteering at our Clubs.

All respondents rated their experience of volunteering for Sporting Memories as ‘Good’ with over 70% rating their time with us as ‘Very Good’. The majority of respondents also mentioned they spend on average 2-4 hours a week in their volunteering capacity, whether that be at Sporting Memories sessions or planning activities and events relating to the group.

We also asked our volunteers for feedback in their own, with some of the respondents providing the following:

“I joined Sporting Memories as a member, supporting my brother-in-law who was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. Having been at the club for a couple of years, I was asked if I would like to become a volunteer. I did and so grateful for the opportunity to give something back.”

“Volunteering with Sporting Memories has been a really positive journey for me.”

“Seeing the faces and smiles it brings to the users is an amazing feeling. If it makes just one person smile/happy then it’s all be worth while.”

This survey was conducted during May 2024 and had 32 respondents who all volunteer at Sporting Memories Clubs across England, Scotland and Wales respectively.
