Taking a trip to see the Dragons! Cardiff group use prize from Croeso Week for brilliant experience

Our relationship with the Newport Dragons has been continuing since we visited Rodney Parade earlier this year to host our Croeso Week Get Together with clubs all across South Wales.

As part of that brilliant day held in March, the winners of the rugby-themed quiz that took place also won tickets to come and see the Dragons play later in the year and that opportunity happened in October when the winning group from Rumney Hub in Cardiff were welcomed to their United Rugby Championship match against Zebre.

The group from the Rumney Hub were given their own hospitality box for the match as they took in an entertaining but dominant affair as the hosts eventually cruised to a 47-7 victory. But for our club members it was a day to remember as they were given a brilliant matchday experience thanks to the warm and welcoming team at Dragons Community who arranged for the club to come and visit.

After the day, some club members commented as enjoying the event despite being Cardiff Blues supporters and took delight in an enjoyable atmosphere across Rodney Parade. Rob Baker, Project Coordinator in Wales, reflected on a brilliant day for one of our Welsh groups.

“The group had a really enjoyable day, from the minute we arrived, to the final whistle. Everybody had a great time including sharing memories of previous visits to the ground dating back to the 1950's.

“A huge thanks must go to Dragons Community, not only for their hospitality on the day but also for their hosting of our Croeso Week Get Together earlier this year which has helped to build our work across south Wales.”
