Velmore enjoy Euro 2024 prediction competition

Across our clubs, we often encourage members and volunteers to participate in predictions for sports matches and events taking place, and in the case of our Velmore Community Club in Hampshire, they were inspired to use the European Championship for a tournament-long competition.

The club hosts weekly sessions at the Velmore Community Centre every Monday between 4pm to 6pm and are welcoming new members to attend if they are based locally. During their recent sessions they have been getting into the spirit of the summer of sport by having a prediction competition.

Using the European Championship in Germany as their focus, members and Club volunteers were asked to predict the scores of matches throughout the tournament. After a month of fun predictions, there were eventually two winners of the competition – in the form of member Richard and Club volunteer Gulnur!

John Donnelly is one of the Club’s facilitators and spoke about the prediction competition as well as encouraging people locally to visit the Club.

“It was great to see all the Club members and volunteers get stuck into the tournament predictions – a huge well done to Richar and Gulnur for sharing the winning trophy!

“We’re open every Monday and we’d like to encourage people near the Velmore Community Centre and the wider Eastleigh area to come along and take part In the club.

“It’s a brilliant Club and everyone provides a warm welcome so I would say to anyone just come along and give it a try as you won’t regret it!”
