Working across generations through Memory Makers programme

Memory Makers is a Sporting Memories programme which allows schools and colleges to interact with older people in their local community, using the power of sport to create understanding and connections.

We have created a set of easy-to-follow activities, which are designed to be inclusive so young people can engage with older people – especially those living with long-termconditions such as dementia and parkinson’s, or those that are facing isolation, loneliness or depression.

And where possible, we will also provide the opportunity for schools and colleges to connect with their nearest Sporting Memories Club, so that young people can meet our Club members and understand what they go through during sessions and how they can help older people to improve their wellbeing through sporting reminiscence and inclusive activities.

Memory Makers Ambassadors

Cambridge United defender Liam Bennett has become our first Memory Makers ambassador.

Liam, who has visited our Sudbury Club on multiple occasions, will support us by providing a youthful aspect to our intergenerational work, helping us to connect with younger audiences to understand the importance of sharing memories through different generations.

You can read more on him becoming a Memory Makers ambassador here.
