Glasgow Caledonian University research highlights impact of our Clubs

In 2018, Sporting Memories teamed up with Glasgow Caledonian University to conduct significant research to empirically evaluate the efficacy of our reminiscence group therapy activities.

Using our Theory of Change model, the research was developed through two studies, the first being a qualitative investigation with one Sporting Memories group situated in the West of Scotland, with the aim of providing a systematic and in-depth exploration of any
potential emotional, social and cognitive benefits for individuals living with dementia, depression and/or loneliness, including their carers.

With the second study focusing on evaluating the wider impact of our work across our Clubs in the UK, with a focus upon assessing on the intended outcomes outlined in our Theory of Change, including positive mental and physical wellbeing, reduced feelings of isolation and improved connections with social and health networks.
