C’mon, let’s go over and see what’s going on!

Some of our Drumchapel members had a wee treat recently. After the weekly meeting on a Wednesday morning at The Kinfauns Centre, Drumchapel, they spotted activity over at the Kids Camp and some shiny silverware on glinting in the sunshine. Davie and a couple of other members accompanied by Community Co-ordinator, Jim Purvis, went over and found ex Celtic FC and Scotland player, Charlie Mulgrew, spending time coaching the youngsters.

One of our members, Davie Graham, had a great chat with Charlie reminiscing about when Davie’s son, Andrew, who is currently captain of Alloa Athletic, faced Charlie on the pitch! Andrew was playing for Hamilton Accies in a Scottish Cup tie against Celtic. Charlie was on that very team and said he did remember the game.

The silverware on show? None other than both the Mens and Womens Scottish Cups which the SFA had kindly loaned out for the day. Will any of the youngsters be holding one aloft in the future?

The SFA cups and members

A real treat for the guys and just goes to show that a wee bit of curiosity went a long way to sharing some great memories. If you want to join our lively club at Drumchapel, they a couple of fellow members meet every Wednesday at 10.00am at the Kinfauns Centre. We have other clubs close by if Wednesday doesn’t suit.
